BoobNews: "Game plan" edition

Posted: 10/29/2015

Game planning day: My diagnostics looked good - no lymph node involvement or evident metastasis. YAY! That was a big concern of mine so it was a huge relief to hear that that aspect looks good. That means the tumor is still classified as stage 2A.
So, now we implement the plan to kick it's tumor-butt outta here.
Step 1: I'm having a Portacath surgically implanted in my chest first thing tomorrow morning. That way I can get my IV chemo treatments without getting poked for new IVs all the time.
Step 2: Starting on Monday, I'll do 5 months total of chemo. I'll get a treatment every other Monday for 2 months. I'll probably feel weak and terrible for about 3 days after each of those treatments. I'll start losing my hair about two weeks after the first dose. Then I'll switch to getting a treatment every week for 3 more months. The weekly chemo will be less intense so I should only feel weak and terrible for about a day after each of those doses.
Step 3: Mastectomy in 6 months. We're lopping both of these killer puppies off. Recovery from that will take about a month.
Step 4: After recovery from the mastectomy, I'm doing 6 weeks of daily radiation treatments. Yes, we're taking the nuclear option.
Step 5: Take an estrogen-blocking pill (tamoxifen) every day for 10 years.
Step 6: Not die.
